Cynthia Levitan

Cynthia Levitan has a PhD in Design from FBAUP - Universidade do Porto and stands out as a director and sculptor in the field of animated cinema. She recently directed the short film ‘Pietra’, a production by Sardinha em Lata (Portugal), co-produced by Pangur Animation (Valencia) and the Polish studio CeTA - Centrum Technologii Audiowizualnych (Wrocław). Throughout her career, Cynthia has amassed a portfolio of short films, sculptures and installations, including her participation in Portugal's first feature-length stop motion animation film, ‘Os demônios do meu avô’, directed by Nuno Beato. In addition to her artistic work, Cynthia is dedicated to higher education, working as a lecturer and researcher. Her research encompasses the reflexive analysis of image, simulacrum and representation, as well as the development of characters and an understanding of the complex constructive processes involved in stop motion animation.
