On 17 and 18 October, IADE - Faculdade de Design, Tecnologia e Comunicação da Universidade Europeia - is promoting the 1st edition of UNICAST - Audio and Podcast Festival, a pioneering initiative in Portugal that aims to promote and reward podcasts and other sound narratives produced in the national university environment, revealing creative voices and consciences.
Applications for the UNICAST Awards are open until 12 July 2024 and the winners will be announced on 17 and 18 October, during the UNICAST - Audio and Podcast Festival.
The initiative has the support of RFM as a media partner, which during the festival, on 17 and 18 October, will launch a challenge for the brave who risk making a podcast in 24 hours - the RFM Podcast Challenge in 24 Hours.

UNICAST Awards
Students regularly enrolled in higher education (university or polytechnic), in Portugal, in 1st, 2nd or 3rd cycle studies (i.e. bachelor's, master's or doctorate), or in non-degree programmes (e.g. postgraduate), regardless of their scientific area, can apply. Each team can only enter the competition once.
All podcast or videocast content developed during the academic year 2023/2024 in an academic context, as part of the initiatives of a higher education institution (university or polytechnic), either as part of a curricular unit of a cycle of studies or as part of an extracurricular activity under the responsibility of at least one teacher, supervisor, coordinator or tutor, can be submitted to the 1st Edition of the UNICAST Awards (2024), falling into the following categories:
- Interview/Conversation
- Journalistic report
- Fictional narrative
- Entertainment (non-fiction)
- Education/Dissemination/Awareness Raising
