She holds a Bachelor's and a PhD in Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, and was born in Lisbon in 1980. During her undergraduate studies, she specialized in Artificial Intelligence and Video Games. Her PhD research focused on the application of serious games in the formal education of doctors and nurses.
She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, focusing on the documentation of artistic projects in contemporary dance. In this research, she explored the use of 3D motion capture systems (Kinect) and 2D video to develop new digital representations and visualizations of movement.
Subsequently, she conducted another postdoctoral fellowship at the Faculty of Sciences, where she trained and developed deep learning algorithms for emotion recognition in images.
Currently, she is a professor and the coordinator of the Game Development Bachelor's program at IADE - Creative University.
