Depression, schizophrenia, burnout, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, alcohol addiction, anorexia and postpartum depression are some of the types of mental disorders addressed by the students of IADE - Faculty of Design, Technology and Communication of the European University in the hypermedia reports that will be presented on February 8 and 9.

Developed by the final year classes of the Degree in Communication Sciences, as part of the Digital Communication Laboratory and Social Media Laboratory curricular units, the reports address the various types of mental disorders.

"The importance that the issue of mental health currently has in our society, since according to the Ministry of Health, around 20% of the Portuguese population suffers from a mental disorder, i.e. one in five people has an illness in this area, made us want to bring this topic up so that our students could discover, investigate and learn more about this reality," says Élmano Ricarte, the teacher responsible for guiding the groups in the area of Journalism.

The journalistic practice carried out in the laboratory by the students has various journalistic genres and formats, such as data-driven news, fact-checking news, videocasts, etc. The main role of this academic model is to give students practical experience of the job market.

In order to carry out these reports, the students also relied on various internal and external partners, such as hospitals in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area and the European University's Master's and PhD courses in Psychology.

In total, 15 topics were included in classroom practice, and 15 websites were created with Mental Health topics:
